Stanley G. Osterbur

 Stanley G. Osterbur 76, of Royal passed away at 11:49 P.M. Monday February 16, 2026 at his home.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 21, 2026 at St. John John Lutheran Church, Royal. Pastor Emil Blobaum will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Royal. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. is in charge of arrangements.

 Stanley was born December 15, 1949. The son of Alvin and Erna (Huls) Osterbur. He married April Nichols in 1975 in Royal. She survives.

 He is also survived by his sons; Adam (Melissa) Osterbur of Pine Hurst, NC, Austin Osterbur of Royal. 2 grandchildren Andrew and Aram Osterbur. Brother Kenneth Osterbur of Royal.

 He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Hannagan.

 Stanley was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. He drove a semi all his life. He enjoyed sports the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini, the Bears, and golfing. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Shirley Ann Carney Finnell

 
Shirley Ann (Carney) Finnell, 90 of St. Joseph formerly of Gilman passed away at 4:48 P.M. Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Amber Glen Memory Care, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 20, 2026 at Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave, St. Joseph. Burial in Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation 1:00 P.M.to 2:00 P.M. prior to service.

Shirley was born August 10, 1935 in Litchfield, IL The daughter of Leroy N. and Ruth (Jackson) Carney. She married Dr. James H. Finnell in Rantoul, IL. He survives.

She is also survived by her daughter Kim (Husband Terry Hill) Blair of St. Joseph. Grandchildren; Megan (Jason) Wheatley of St. Joseph, Mitch Blair of Newport, CA, and Maddie (Chris) Brooks of Aiken, SC. Great-Grandchildren Reese, Raegan and Roman Wheatley, and Carter Brooks. Brother Gary (Gayle) Carney of Running Branch, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Michael Blair.

Shirley grew up in Rantoul and graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1953. She worked as a secretary at Chanute Air Force Base, where she met her future husband Dr. James Finnell, the base veterinarian. They settled in Gilman where she supported her husband's business Piper City Veterinary Clinic by answering radio calls for the clinic. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilman. She volunteered at the church and worked part time at the Gilman-Danforth District Library.

Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother always supporting her daughter and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her storytelling and boundless energy in playing with her grandchildren. Shirley was known for her witty sense of humor, artistic talents, cooking her family’s favorite foods, and love of music and dancing. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Urbana.

Wayne E. McDaniel

 Wayne E. McDaniel, 90, of Sidney, Illinois passed away on February 14, 2026 at Carle Hospital, Urbana, Illinois

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Freese Funeral Home, Sidney with Rev. Jeff Stahl officiating.  Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Sidell.  Visitation will be from 10 to 11AM, Thursday at the funeral home.

Wayne was born January 4, 1936 in Jamaica, Illinois, the son of Forrest and Delia (Taylor) McDaniel, the seventh of ten children.  Wayne graduated from Sidell High School in 1954.  He married Gail Arwine on May 29, 1959, she preceded him in death in 1991.  He later married Joan Erb Lewis on September 6, 1992, she survives.

Also surviving are a son; Terry (Michelle) McDaniel of Danville, stepdaughters; Brenda Feller of Fort Myers, FL and Connie (Rick) Knight of Sidney, grandsons; Matthew (Jessica) McDaniel and Zachary (Erika) McDaniel, step-grandchildren; Jonathan (Lisa) Feller, Sarah (Paul) Gibson, Ben Feller, Hillary (Jeff) Gayler and Tyler (Kristin) Knight, great-grandchildren; Layla McDaniel, Maelee Remington, Melody McDaniel and Micah Remington-McDaniel, step-great-grandchildren; Emma Gibson, Lilly Gibson, MaKenzie Gayler, MaKayla Gayler, Gage Gayler, and Scarlett Knight, step-great-great-grandchildren; Adley and Cooper Walsh, a brother; Keith (Jane) McDaniel of Sidell, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Ailene Hillary, Kenneth McDaniel, Esther Lahne, Betty Jackowski, Donald McDaniel, Ruth Callahan, Shirley McCown and Larry McDaniel, a stepson-in-law; Doug Feller and step-grandson; Rocky Knight.

Wayne was the longtime franchise owner of Standard/Amoco Oil in Sidell, where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1998.  He spent most of his life in and around Sidell before moving to Sidney in 1992, where he lived for the past 34 years.

He was known for his love of playing cards and visiting with friends and neighbors.  Always ready to lend a helping hand, he could fix nearly anything and was admired for his remarkable memory-remembering not just names and events, but the exact years as well.

He enjoyed camping and traveling across the country.  In retirement, Wayne and Joan enjoyed winters at their second homes in Surprise, Arizona and later in Arcadia, Florida.

Most importantly, he loved his family deeply and treasured the time he spent with each of them.

Brenda J. Vera


 Brenda J. Vera, 66 of Homer formerly of St. Joseph passed away at 12:48 P.M. Wednesday February 11, 2026 at her home.

 A Celebration of Life Service 2:00 P.M. Sunday February 22, 2026 will be held at St. Joseph United Methodist Church 205 S. Third St. St. Joseph. Pastor Jim Davis will officiate.

 

 Brenda was born August 20, 1959 in Pana, IL the daughter of Lyle and Mavis (Gipson) Galvin. She married Rick Vera in 1987. He survives.

 She is also survived by her children; Melissa (Tyler) Hall of Homer, Kenny Vera of Homer. Seven grandchildren. 2 brothers Rick Galvin, Steve Galvin. Sister Kathy (Terry) Hoover.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Sue Galvin.

 Brenda was a constituent of the St. Joseph United Methodist Church.

 She enjoyed crocheting blankets, movies with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren. Brenda did a phenomenal job of taking care of people.

Patty A. Rednour

 
Patty A. Rednour, 84, of Sidney passed away at 11:31 PM, Monday, February 9, 2026 at Pleasant Meadow Senior Living, Chrisman.

Funeral services will be 11:30 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Freese Funeral Home, Sidney with Pastor Debbie Matthews officiating.  Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo.  Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.

Patty was born July 17, 1941 in Philo Township, the daughter of Harold and Pauline (Johnson) Rahn.  She married Allen Rednour on July 10, 1960, he preceded in death in 1978.

She is survived by her children; Rodney Rednour of Greenup, Linda (Bruce) Shreeves of Sidell and James Rednour of Fairmount, sisters; Connie Hart of Philo, Doris (Don) Newman of Philo, Rita Windsor of Urbana, brothers; Robert (Judy) Rahn of Philo, Kenneth (Janet) Rahn of Broadlands, Phil Rahn of Florence, AL, Brian Rahn of Galesburg, six grandchildren; Tim (Jamie) Rednour, Amie (Seth) Davis, Jesse (Holly) Rednour, Donna Baker, Melisa Jayne, and Aaron (Amy) Shreeves, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters; Carol, Christine, and Elizabeth, two grandchildren; Thomas Rednour and Jeremy Shreeves and three brothers; John Rahn, Russel Rahn, and Dale Rahn.

Patty was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship Church, Urbana.  She was also an avid gardener and loved to crochet.  She loved God, family, and friends, most of all spending time with her family.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research.

Dorothy C. Rutledge


 Dorothy C. Rutledge, 93 of Fithian passed away at 3:04 A.M. Friday February 6, 2026 at Accolade Healthcare on Pells, Paxton.

 Dorothy was born August 5, 1932 in Danville. The daughter of Willis I. and Goldy O. (McElwee) Melton. She married Robert Earl Rutledge Sr. on December 28, 1951 in Danville. He preceded her on June 16, 1996.

 She is survived by her children; James Rutledge of Fithian, David (Michelle) Rutledge of Bedford, IN and Debra Kuchenbrod of St. Joseph. 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister, two children Robert Earl Rutledge Jr. and Catherine Georgia, one great-grandchild, son-in-law Greg Georgia.

 Dorothy was a member of the Oakwood Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening and playing Bingo. She had worked as a in home care worker for several years.

 Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

 Services will be held at a later date.

Dale Terven

 
Dale Terven, 99 of Philo passed away at 9:00 PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at VA Illiana Health Care System, Danville.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, Feb 12, 2026 at Countryside United Methodist Church, Urbana with Rev. Jeff Stahl officiating.  Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo with military rites being accorded.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7PM Wednesday at Freese Funeral Home, Sidney.

Mr. Terven was born October 24, 1926 in Colfax, a son to Jasper and Emma Jane Stinde Terven.  He married Mary Sidebottom on December 5, 1948 in Bloomington, she preceded in death on April 15, 2021.

Surviving are six children; Dennis (Densie) Terven of Golconda, IL, Lonney (Sue) Terven of Monticello, Roger (Deanna) Terven of Sidney, Teresa (Rob Zachary) Williams of Urbana, Phil (Debbie) Terven of Monticello, and Craig (Teresa) Terven of Philo, 28 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three daughters; Angela Terven, Carol Smith, and Paula Wilson, a brother; Gerald Terven, and two sisters; Maxine Hertha-Winston and Phyllis Sweet.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.  Then he went to school in Chicago to learn the trade of bending glass.  He worked at Superior Neon Sign Company, Urbana bending tubed glass to make signs.  He then went on to become an electrician installing the signs.  He retired after 33 years of employment.  He was a member of IBEW for over 66 years.  He was also a member of Philo American Legion for 65 years and Countryside United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family gatherings.  Deer Hunting is Southern Illinois was his favorite.  He was a Chicago Cubs and Illini Fan.  He was so happy to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series.
