William Calvin Roller

 
William Calvin Roller, age 75  of Marrowbone, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Cumberland County Hospital . Calvin was born on September 16, 1946 in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky to the late John Calvin Roller and Lucille Thomas Roller. He was a member of Waterview Church of Christ, a former University of Illinois Policeman, a truck driver, and a former employee of Carhartt in Glasgow.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Slater.

Survivors Include:
His Wife- Mary Roller of Marrowbone, KY
Two Sons- Glenn Slater of Effingham, Illinois and William C. Roller, Jr. of Dewey, Illinois
One Daughter- Phyllis Hunter of Ogden, Illinois
One Brother- Gary Roller of Mahomet, Illinois
5 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Waterview Church of Christ, 6465 Glasgow Road, Burkesville, KY. Cremation was chosen.

Billy B. Mullen

Billy B. Mullen, 84, of Danville, Illinois passed away at 1:05 a.m. at Carle Hospital.

He was born in Pekin, Illinois on July 29, 1937, the son of Delbert and Beatrice (Layne) Mullen.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Dawn Money of Norris City; son, Travis Mullen of Danville; two grandsons, Houston Money and Ty Money, several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Sally Kittell.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Marsha Wilson and one brother, Larry Mullen.

Bill graduated from Unity High School in 1955 and served overseas in the U.S. Army for two years.

Throughout Bill’s lifetime he worked in the grocery business throughout Central Illinois.  He started his career as a butcher at Norm’s in Urbana and owned Bill’s Super Foods in Rossville.  He later became the founder, owner and butcher at the Rawhide Meat Company in Danville, from where he later retired.

The family would like to thank the 7^th Floor doctors and nurses at Carle Hospital for their care they gave to Bill while he was there.  A celebration of life will be held at Sarge’s Tap in Danville on July 30, 2022.  Bill would have been turning 85 years old this year and we all know how he loved to celebrate.

Robert B. Darley

 ALLERTON — Robert B. Darley, 98, of Allerton passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.

Robert was born on April 14, 1923, in Allerton, to Edwin and Edith (Forccum) Darley. He married Leah Meehan on Aug. 19, 1961, in Hume.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Leah Darley; two children, Mark (Lori) Darley of Roscoe and Diane (Rick) Turner of Mahomet; three grandchildren, Morgan (Zac) Kohen J.r. Turner and Katie Turner (Hunter Foster); three great-grandchildren, Hallie, Monroe and Zayleigh; one nephew, Don (Lora) Toppe; and two great-nephews, Donnie (Brandy) Toppe and Dan (Jasmine) Toppe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings and their spouses.

Robert graduated from Allerton High School and then enlisted in the military, where he served as a Navy SeaBees. Once out of the military, he got a job as a bookkeeper for the Allerton Supply Company and then was a U.S. mail carrier for 34 years before his retirement.

He was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to watch them play. He also enjoyed woodworking, baking, tending to his garden and bowling.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, south of Allerton, with Pastor Trevor Oetting officiating. 

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Steve L. Heath

 

Steve L. Heath, 62 of Ogden passed away at 2:30 A.M. Monday February 7, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday February 10, 2022 at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. 

 Freese Funeral Home 302 E. Grand Ave. is in charge of arrangements.


 Steve was born August 16, 1959 at Rantoul. The son of Ralph and Janet (Carmien) Heath. He has been with his life partner Cathy Cherry for 33 years. She survives.

 He is also survived by her daughter Kim (Jeremy) Darnell of Gibson City, granddaughter Adlee. His parents of Ogden. Brother Mike (Tammy) Heath of Flatville. Niece Nikki (Josh) Garmon, great nephew Grayson Garmon, niece Carlie Heath and great niece Blakely Heath. Numerous cousins.

 He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

 Steve was a member of UA Local 149 for over 30 years. He retired from the University of Illinois as a Building Trades Supervisor.

 He enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors and most of all spending time with family helping out anyway he could.

 Memorials may be made to Whitetails Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation of the NRA.

Kyle A. Osterbur

Kyle A. Osterbur, 31, of Royal passed away at 2:10 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 6, 2022) at home.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. Pastor Jay Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Royal. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church. Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.

Kyle was born Sept. 11, 1990, in Urbana, the son of Ken Osterbur and Ginny Menzer. He married David Jason Osterbur-Pratt on July 10, 2015. He survives.

He is also survived by his dad, Ken Osterbur of Royal; mother, Ginny (Mike) Tabb of Tuscola; brother, Lane Richard Osterbur of Urbana; sister, Emma Jayne Osterbur of Spring Hill, Tenn.; paternal grandfather, Marvin (Belva) Osterbur of Royal; paternal grandmother, Carol (Jack) Coleman of Sidney; niece, Makayla Osterbur; and lots of uncles, aunts and cousins who loved him very much.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Menzer.

Kyle was a graduate of St. Joseph-Ogden High School Class of 2009. He worked for Illini FS in Urbana as a Propane Service Tech. He was a proud member of the Ogden-Royal Fire Protection District Station 12, where he served as a captain. He enjoyed smoking tobacco pipes and brew his own beer and drive his golf cart around Royal.

William Otto Eaton

 William Otto Eaton, 92, formerly of Mahomet, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2022 at The Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka, IL.

He was born June 21, 1929 to Dora and Howard (Babe) Easton of Fairland, IL, they preceded him in death.

He married Pauline R. Walden on January 14, 1948.  She preceded him in death.  He is survived by his son, Bill W. (Gail) Eaton of Goodfield, Il, and a grandson, Jason Eaton of Palmetto, FL.  He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Pat) Mast of Champaign,  a brother Robert (Susie) Eaton of Channahon, IL and four nephews.

He graduated from Sidney High School and retired after 32 years from the University of Illinois where he worked 2 years at the “swine farm” and 30 years as the foreman of the “beef cattle barn”.  After “retirement” he spent the next 12 years as a custodian for the Mahomet-Seymour School District.

Having grown up on a farm he was an avid fisher and hunter.  When he was not working, he could be found fishing on Spring Lake where he resided for 56 years.  He was blessed to have lived in a caring community with loving neighbors who especially watch over him in his later years.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Freese Funeral Home, Sidney, with Rev. Kathy Murphy officiating.  Burial will be Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sidney.  Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 PM, Friday.

Barbara Rothermel

 
Barbara Rothermel, 74, of Broadlands died at Friday (Feb. 4, 2022) at her beloved home.

Barbara was born October 9, 1947. She grew up in Newman, Illinois, a town she cherished in her heart. Her parents were Charles and Jean Richards. Her brother Michael Richards still survives.

Barbara married Henry Rothermel on July 15, 1967. Henry passed away in 1988, and Barbara never remarried. She is survived by her three children, Patrick Rothermel, Marty (Deena) Rothermel, and Amy (Jerrod) Markstahler. She has 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was the rock of her family, an amazing mother to her children and grandchildren. She nurtured and cared for all who she loved. She worked for many people over the years, cleaning and caring for their homes, but for the bulk of her career, she worked for Shahid and Ann Khan, where she took great pride in her work and dearly loved the family.

Barbara found solace in her home where she spent the last years of her life, content and happy with her cats. She loved her gardens and her friends. Her beautiful spirit and sense of humor will forever be remembered and deeply missed.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Freese Funeral Home, 202 W. Main St., Sidney.
