Richard Goben
PAXTON – Richard E. "Dick" Goben, age 87, of Paxton, formerly of St. Joseph and Gibson City, passed away at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday (April 24, 2013) at the Asta Care Center in Paxton.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. Burial will take place in Drummer Township Cemetery with full military rites. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday before the service.
Richard was born June 14, 1925, in Bloomington, a son to Millard A. and Thelma (Chandler) Goben. He married Dorothy Beck on April 27, 1947, in Gibson City. She died on April 16, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Rick (Marlene) Goben of Loda and Bill (Sandy) Goben of Paxton; three grandchildren, Rich Goben, Kris Adkins and Abby Weigel; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents and brother.
Richard was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad. Richard was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Illini Shrine Club of Champaign and St. Joseph Masonic Lodge, and was a Lutheran. He enjoyed camping, fishing and golf.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
