Mary Thomsen
ST. JOSEPH – Mary J. Thomsen, 74, of St. Joseph passed away at 4:58 a.m. Monday (Oct. 21, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, after a brief illness.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery, Danville. A receiving line will be held from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thomsen was born July 23, 1939, in Chicago, the daughter of Hugh and Mary Scott. She married Raymond Thomsen of Port Chester, N.Y., on Oct. 21, 1961, in Amarillo, Texas.
Surviving are one son, Raymond P. Thomsen of Urbana; two daughters, Mary Jo Bridgewater of St. Joseph and Dawn Thomsen of Phoenix, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Erin E. Bridgewater; two brothers, Jack Scott of Oak Forest and Thomas Scott of Chicago; one sister, Kathy Shapiro of Lombard; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond and her sister Alice Dudman.
She was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired after 20 years from the University of Illinois.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Joseph.
