CHAMPAIGN – Hoyle Brooks Puckett Jr. of Champaign passed away in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
He was born July 16, 1950, in Oxford, N.C., the son of (the late Hoyle Sr. and) Faye Puckett. His elementary education in Champaign was followed by graduation at St. Joseph-Ogden High School. He attended the University of Illinois, receiving a degree in agricultural economics in 1974 and an MBA in 1990. He was a banker/mortgage lender in Rantoul.
He married Janet Friederich on Aug. 14, 1971. They have three children, Matthew (Carrie) Puckett and their daughter, Loretta; Mandie (Jeremy) Abel and their daughters, Brooke and Bree; and Mark (partner Jessica Eddy) and daughters, Kayla Eddy and Averie Puckett.
Also surviving Hoyle are his sisters, Carol Puckett and Kristy (John) Berbaum; sister-in-law, Fran (Philip) DeMaris; brother-in-law, Al (Peg Shaw) Friederich; 12 nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins of all generations.
A celebration of his life will be at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (from 11 a.m. to noon) Saturday at the funeral home.
