ALLERTON – Wilma Jean Hodge, 80, of Decatur, formerly of Allerton, passed away at 7:15 p.m. Sunday (March 12, 2017) at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Joines Funeral Home, 401 W. Gillogly St., Newman, with the Rev. Kathy Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, northeast of Newman. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
Wilma was born on April 27, 1936, in Cobden, the daughter of Dolph and Kathryn Anderson Cross. She married Charles "Chuck" Hodge on Sept. 29, 1953. He preceded her in death in 2016.
Surviving are one son, Chris (Kathy) Hodge of Champaign; two daughters, Tina (Gary) Henderson of Allerton and Cha (Mike) Bishop of Decatur; one daughter-in-law, Bobbi (Steve) Hodge; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way; and two sisters, Brenda Noel and Faye Dela Garza, both of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Steve Hodge.
Wilma grew up as a Cobden Appleknocker but lived most of her life in Allerton where she raised her family. She was a beautician for many years.
She loved all card games, especially bridge where she attained the status of Bridge Master. She enjoyed flowers, working puzzles and was a best friend and playmate to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
Joines Funeral Home, Newman, is in charge of arrangements.
