Michael K. Jones , 67, of St. Joseph, passed away on the morning of Tuesday July 9, 2024 at home. He was born April 14, 1957 in Champaign to Gerald G. “Buzz” and Naomi E. McCorkle Jones in Champaign, IL.
Mike is survived by his son, Joshua (Randi) Jones; a sister, Carol Sue (Jones) Rasmussen; a brother, Steven Jones; sister-in-law Diana Jones; six grandchildren, Peyton, Quincy, Mia, Tyson, Mason, and Kinsleigh Jones; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Jones; two sisters, Anita (Jones) Lewis and Dolores “Doe” (Jones) Havelka; and brother-in-law, Robert “Bob” Rasmussen.
Mike graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1975. After high school he continued working on the family farm, eventually going to work for the railroad. Mike left the railroad in the early 1980’s to pursue a career with the IBEW Local 601, where he worked until retirement.
In most recent years, Mike enjoyed living in St. Joseph near his son’s family, tinkering around the farm and watching his grandchildren play.
A private family graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery 506 County Road 350 E Mahomet Illinois on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11 am. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life, at Josh & Randi Jones home in St. Joseph.
