Ronald “Ron” C. McElwee, 87 formerly of Sidney passed away at 5:17PM, Friday, March 14, 2025 at Hawthorn Inn, Danville.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday March 22, 2025 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sidney. Freese Funeral Home, St. Joseph is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. McElwee was born August 29 ,1937 in Sidney. A son to Claude and Helen Trees McElwee. Surviving are nieces and nephews: Mike (Diane) Hamer of St. Joseph, Teri Hamer of St. Joesph, Julie (late John) McElwee-Kuhn of St. Joseph, and Buddy (Faith) McElwee, and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Marilyn (Earl) Hamer and twin brother; Don (Evelyn) McElwee.
He grew up in Tipton and attended a one room school house where he was responsible for getting the wood for the school house for warmth in the winter.
He was a superintendent in construction for various large jobs all over the country.
He owned BMW Motorcycles and rode all over the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico. He also was a pilot and co-owned and Cessna. His real love was for his two dogs, Muggsy and Bugsy.
