THOMASBORO — Hilda J. Huls, 97, of Gifford, formerly of Thomasboro, died at 9:46 a.m. Friday (June 3, 2016) at Country Health Care & Rehab, Gifford.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville, with the Rev. James T. Lehmann officiating. Burial will follow in Beckman Cemetery, rural Rantoul. Baier Family Funeral Services, Flatville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Hilda was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Compromise Township, Champaign County, the daughter of Menne and Bertha Busboom Duitsman. She married Dick Huls on Sept. 17, 1938, in Gifford. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Beulah Seckinger of Thomasboro; a son, Gary Huls of rural Rantoul; four grandchildren, Danielle (Jesse) Sutton of Charleston, S.C., Jaclyn Huls of Charleston, S.C., Deanne (Bill) Seckinger- Applegate of Pittsburgh and Denise (Ryan) Hood of Washington, Ill.; six great-grandchildren, Daren, Kelsie, Abbie, Allie, Brandon and Dylan; a sister, Rosetta Schluter of Gifford; and a sisterin- law, Marie Duitsman of rural Gifford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herbert Duitsman; and a sister, Ilene Duitsman.

Hilda was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville, the Champaign County Farm Bureau and the Rantoul Moose. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafts.
