L. Carl Goad


HOMER – L. Carl Goad, 90, of Homer passed away at 9:25 p.m. Thursday (June 16, 2016) at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Kirby Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Carl was born on Sept. 2, 1925, in Longview, the son of Sam and Alta Cornwell Goad.
He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, a life member of American Legion Post 290, and served as trustee of G.A.R. Cemetery for 27 years.
Mr. Goad retired in 1978 as assistant secretary of the board of the State Universities Retirement System. He served his country during World War II in the 87th Infantry, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Memorials can be made to G.A.R. Cemetery.
