CHAMPAIGN – Norman D. Busboom, 80, of Champaign passed away on Friday (May 27, 2016), surrounded by his family at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born on Dec. 1, 1935, to Rankin G. Busboom and Anna Meier.
He is survived by his son, Stephen D. Busboom (Cheri) of Fishers, Ind.; and daughter, Julie A. Busboom of Indianapolis, Ind.
He is also survived by four granddaughters, Kayla Knox, Erin Knox, Amanda Busboom and Jade Dent; one grandson, Jack Dent; and brothers, Clarence Busboom, Vernon Busboom and Leon Busboom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rankin and Anna Busboom, and his brother, Marvin Busboom.
Norman served in the U.S. Army. He was retired from the University of Illinois as an electrical engineer. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, golf and baseball.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign, with services beginning at 1 p.m., then graveside at Kopman Cemetery. Food and drinks will be served at Norman Busboom's home afterward.
