Novella Hoskins

ALLERTON — Novella Hoskins, 93, of Allerton died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday (May 27, 2017) at Newman Rehab and Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Joines Funeral Home, Illinois 130 South, Villa Grove, with Pastor Duane Piercy officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Broadlands. Visitation will be one hour before the services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hoskins was born on Nov. 14, 1923, in Tracy City, Tenn., a daughter of Joseph and Beulah Meeks Seagroves. She married Frank Hoskins and he preceded her in death.
Novella is survived by a daughter, Deborah Geyer of Camargo; nieces, Brenda Clodfelder of Homosassa, Fla., and Sally Wilson of Salem, Ill.; and a nephew, Wayne Hoskins of Centralia.
Novella was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson and one nephew.
Novella was an LPN and worked at the Champaign County Nursing Home for 25 years, and the Newman Rehab and Health Care Center. She loved crocheting, painting, and her flower garden.
Memorials can be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Ray "Marty" Struck


SIDELL – Ray Martin "Marty" Struck, 71, of Sidell passed away on Monday (May 15, 2017) at home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Broadlands, with Pastor John Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Broadlands. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Freese Funeral Home, Sidney, is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Struck was born on April 20, 1946, at Tuscola, a son to Raymond Henry and Enola Sy Struck. He was also raised by his stepmother, Marabelle Dixon.
He married Sharon J. Mitchell on July 2, 1977, at Broadlands; she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Elizabeth Anne "Betsy" (Dave) Lancaster of Philo and Corey Ray Mitchell (Laura) Struck of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Trent Thompson, Kallie Lancaster and Henry Struck; and a sister, Louise Fellmann of Savoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and a brother, Melvin A. Struck.
Marty farmed in the Broadlands and Sidell area.
He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Broadlands.
He graduated from ABL in 1965 where he was active in the FFA. He enjoyed playing cards.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Carle Hospice or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Broadlands.
