Bonita "Bonnie" McMahon

GIFFORD — Bonita “Bonnie” McMahon, 93, of Urbana, formerly of Ogden, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2019) at Country Health Care and Rehab, Gifford.
Per Bonnie’s wishes, graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.
Bonnie was born Nov. 25, 1925, in rural Ogden, a daughter of John and Nellie (Freeman) Hiser. She married John H. McMahon on July 25, 1947, in Ogden. He preceded her in death March 15, 2013.
She is survived by her children, William (Paula) McMahon, Robert (Elizabeth) McMahon and Mary McMahon, all of Ogden; two grandchildren, Brian and Katie; two stepgranddaughters, Leslie Wells Lewis and Layne Trail; three great-grandchildren, Connor and Andrew McMahon and Leo John Wanka; and one stepgreatgrandchild, Caeden Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Bonnie graduated from Ogden High School and Illinois Commercial College. She worked at the U of I for seven years and the First National Bank of Ogden for 15 years.
She was a member of Ogden United Methodist Church. Bonnie also volunteered at Provena Covenant Medical Center for many years.

Bonnie Rose Miller

HOMER — Bonnie Rose Miller, 65, of Homer passed away at 8:56 a.m. Monday (Feb. 18, 2019) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. Pastor Barry West will officiate. Burial will take place in GAR Cemetery, Homer. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the funeral home.
Bonnie was born April 23, 1953, in Tuscola, the daughter of Claude and Myrtle Long Wells. She married Claudius “Bub” Miller on March 30, 1974, in Urbana. He survives.
Survivors also include her sons, Devin (Dawn) Miller of Indianapolis, Christopher (Ray Ann) Miller of Troy, Mo., Joseph (Nova) Miller of Villa Grove and Benjamin (Cynthia) McBride of Chatham; daughter, Emilee (Donald Skeels) Miller of Homer; nine grandchildren; brother, Ed (Bonnie) Wells of Arcola; and sister, Mina Greenlee of Lodi, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law.
Bonnie was a member of Sidney Christian Church and Homer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, camping, and she loved fast cars. She also loved going to church.

Nina Fainter

ST. JOSEPH — Nina Fainter, 30, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday (Feb. 16, 2019).
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph. Charles Clayton will officiate. Family and friends will gather at 104 E. Vine St., Tolono, following the service.
Nina was born Sept. 4, 1988, at Monmouth, the daughter of Larry and Kathryn (Clayton) Fainter.
She is survived by her mother, Kathryn of St. Joseph, and father, Larry of Ivesdale; siblings, brother Nicholas Fainter of Ivesdale, sister Natalie Schnider of Champaign and brother Nolon Fainter of St. Joseph; four nieces and nephews, Tegan, Rylee, Clark and Vivian; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Nina was a pediatric nurse. She recieved her bachelor's degree in nursing from Lakeview School of Nursing. She was a graduate of Yorkwood High School.
Her true joy was children, especially spending time with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed crocheting

John Mumma

PHILO — John Mumma, 67, of Philo passed away Wednesday (Feb. 13, 2019) in Seymour, Ind.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Franks Center, 127 Washington St., Philo, with the Rev. Jeff Stahl officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo. There will be an informal celebration of life at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at Misty and Jeremy’s house, 1170 County Road 1900 East, Sidney. Freese Funeral Home, Sidney, is assisting with arrangements.
John was born Oct. 30, 1951, in Champaign. He married Brenda Dallas on Jan. 17, 1976, in Tuscola. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Misty (Jeremy) Nelson of Sidney, Robin (Cory) Duitsman of Philo and Kristin Stratton of Philo; seven grandchildren, Kayla Nelson, Bradey Duitsman, Chloey Duitsman, Tanner Nelson, Kinzey Duitsman, Michelle Stratton and Faith Stratton; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Helen Dallas; a cousin, Bob Stahl; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a lifelong farmer in the Philo and Sidney area. He worked with the Philo Fire Department, was a Philo village trustee, president of the Philo Park Board and Bill Huss Chapel Cemetery, on the Locust Grove Cemetery board and a member of the Unity Alumni Athletic Association (UAAA). He was also on the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association Board before becoming vice president. He was also a flagman and a tech official for the ITPA. He served on the U.S. Association of Pullers Board. He became a competing member of the ITPA and USAP in 2009. He was a two-time Pro Pulling League Champion and multitime ITPA Champion.
He enjoyed wintering in Florida near Fort Myers Beach. He coached his daughters in softball. He loved his grandchildren and going to their sporting events.
He enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinals, Illini Sports, Unity Rockets and NASCAR. He loved truck and tractor pulling and drag racing.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Mills Breast Cancer Center or UAAA.

Donna R. Hodgson

HOMER — Donna R. Hodgson, 69, of Homer passed away at 1:22 a.m. Friday (Feb. 15, 2019) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph.
Donna was born March 30, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Louise Mulligan LeRette. She married David Hodgson on June 14, 2003, in Oakwood. He survives.
She is also survived by her children, Virginia Gannon of Ogden, Terrasa Latham of Homer and Donald Craddock of Whitmore Lake, Mich.; nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and brother, Stephen LeRette of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Monya Smith; and brother, Jerry LeRette.
Donna worked in food services in Bromley Hall for many years. She enjoyed going for Sunday afternoon drives and looking at deer around Homer Lake. Donna had a big heart and enjoyed feeding everyone and playing Farkle.
