Daniel Stephen Fox

ST. JOSEPH – Daniel Stephen Fox, 65, of St. Joseph passed away on Wednesday (Sept. 27,2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Dan was born Sept. 6, 1952, the son of Elmer and the late Ruth Fox. He survived by his wife, Jane; daughters, Leilani (Gene) Pierson and Mila (Ronnie) Thomas; sons, David Fox, Jonathon (Yulia) Fox and Jared Hill; sisters, Veronica (Jimmie) Cook and Heidi (Mike) Roberts; brother, Peter Braitsch; aunt, Ella Braitsch; and six grandchildren.
Dan embraced life fully. He retired from Peoples Gas after 37 years. He loved traveling and running and was the owner of Fox Stable in St. Joseph.
He proudly served our country and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in Vietnam from 1970 to 1974.
Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Dan's life will be at noon Saturday, Sept. 30, at Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Champaign.

David Kent Chapman

OGDEN – David Kent Chapman, 81, of Ogden passed away at 1:55 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 28, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Celebration of life services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
David was born Sept. 10, 1936, at Yale, Ill., the son of Clone E. and Fredia M. Barkley Chapman. He married Wanda M. Sparling; she preceded him in death. He then married Marlene M. Repp in 1968; she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Marsha (Bob) Silver of Sadorus, Richard (Pam) Chapman of Broadlands, Angie Norman of Monticello and Penny (Jim) Vickers of Ogden; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrna Johnson of Champaign; and son-in-law Kenny Shobe of Casey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Penny Shobe.
David retired from Champaign Asphalt after 35 years of service. He was an avid trapshooter, shooting with his wife and serving as a mentor to many local shooters. He was a Mason and a member of the Ogden Lions club.
David loved telling jokes and going hunting. After retirement, David and Marlene spent winters in Odessa, Fla., at the Silver Dollar Trap and Golf Club.
David was talented at drawing, woodworking and leather tooling.

John J. Fredrikson

LONGVIEW — John J. “JJ” Fredrikson, 65, of Longview died at 6:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 4, 2017) at the Newman Rehab and Health Care Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in Young America Cemetery, Hume, with Pastor Duane Piercy officiating. The family will meet friends and family after the services Monday at the Villa Grove VFW. Joines Funeral Home, Illinois 130 South, Villa Grove, is assisting the family
with arrangements.
JJ was born May 21, 1952, in Tuscola, a son of Ernest (Swede) and Harriett (Milam) Fredrikson, heis survived by one daughter, Regina Fredrikson ofLongview; two brothers, Gary “Fox” (Cindy) Fredrikson of Villa Grove and Bill (Tammy) Fredrikson of Garrett; five sisters, Linda Burnett of Highland, Suzanne Broughton of Athens, Ill., Carla (Dennis) Vail of Pesotum, Penny (Steve) Stone of Longview and Dawn (Rob) Etheridge of Pesotum; and several nieces and nephews. was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He graduated from ABL High School in 1970. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard; he worked for the Union Pacific Rail Road for 21 years and for Carso Lawn Service in Camargo for several years before becoming disabled. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and a Chicago Bears fan. Memorials can be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Nancy Osterbur

ROYAL — Nancy Osterbur, 74, of Royal passed away at 9:34 p.m. Monday (Sept. 4, 2017) at her home.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept.8, at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal, with Pastor Emil officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Freese Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements.
Nancy was born on Dec. 27, 1942, at Champaign, the daughter of Ralph and Lois Womacks Fenters. She married Kenneth D. Osterbur on Oct. 2, 1966, at Ogden. He survives.
She is also survived by her son, Drew M. (Lindsey) Osterbur of Royal; two granddaughters, Madeline and Grace Osterbur; and brother, Tom Fenters of Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Nancy was a loving and giving person who would do anything for her family.
She enjoyed weekend trips with her husband and she enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Jeff Gordon and NASCAR.
She worked for the First National Bank of Ogden for 27 years.

Billy D. Wyant


ALLERTON – Billy D. Wyant, 76, of Allerton passed away at 4:52 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 31, 2017) at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Private graveside services will be conducted. There will be no public visitation. Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, is handling arrangements.
Billy was born Aug. 28, 1941, in Champaign, the son of Carl and Phyllis Johnson Wyant. He married Ella "Mickie" Deckard on Aug. 25, 1961, in Indianola. She survives.
Survivors also include his son, Jeff Wyant of Sidney; son, Wayne (Christine) Wyant of Allerton; daughter-in-law, Julie Wyant of Broadlands; sister, Janice Cummings of Tuscola; brother, Carl "Buddy" (Jessie) Wyant of Fairland; and grandchildren, Jared Wyant, Jenna (Travis) Yoder, Tanner, Cody, Mason and Brynna Wyant.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Billy was owner of Wyant Backhoe Service. He was a member of Allerton Lions Club for many years, Allerton town board member, firefighter with the Allerton Fire Department (where he once served as assistant chief) and member of Heavy Equipment Operators Union Local 841 in Terre Haute, Ind.
Memorials can be made to Allerton Fire Department.
