ST. JOSEPH – Jerry Penrod, 72, of St. Joseph passed away at 12:30 a.m. Thursday (March 27, 2014) at the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System, Danville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph. The Rev. Jud Travis will officiate. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Jerry was born April 14, 1941, in St. Joseph, the son of Arthur and Dollie Wolf Penrod.
He is survived by his significant other, Marie Saathoff of St. Joseph; sister, Joyce Penrod of St. Joseph; brother, Dan Penrod of Fairmount; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Penrod, and a great-niece.
Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jerry served as the quartermaster at VFW Post 5520, Champaign.
He was a retired self-employed carpenter.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 634 at St. Joseph. He very much enjoyed photography and traveling.
