Marie Buhr

PENFIELD – Marie Lorraine Buhr, 86, of rural Penfield passed away at 3:55 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2015) at Presence Covenant Medical Center., Urbana

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. Pastor Jay Johnson will officate. Burial will be in Kopmann Cemetery Royal. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.

Marie was born July 13, 1928, at rural Thomasboro, a daughter of Victor and Theda Lubben Strom. She married John Buhr at Peace Lutheran Church, Thomasboro, on June 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 2007.

She is survived by her son, Duane Buhr of Penfield; daughter, Diane (Loren) Riddell of Ogden; three sisters, Myra Rucker of Champaign, Mary Jane (Richard) McGee of Pana and Marilyn (Al) Bramlet of Utah; one brother, Mervin Strom of Champaign; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Angela) Crawford of Gifford, Angela (John) Crawford of St. Jacob, and Nathan Buhr and Christopher Buhr, both of Penfield; and four great-grandsons, Keegan Brooks, Taylor and Kendrick Crawford, all of Gifford, and Jacob Crawford of St. Jacob.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son David, two brothers and one sister.

Marie was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Royal.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of Presence Covenant Medical Center, Hospice and Country Health Care and Rehab Center for the care given to Marie.
