C. Everett Walters

HOMER — C. Everett Walters, 88, of Homer passed away at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2018) at his home.
A graveside memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, Nov. 11, at GAR Cemetery in Homer. A celebration of life open house will be from 1 to 5 p.m. at Uncle Boonie’s Bait Shop after the graveside service. The family requests casual attire, jeans preferred. Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer, is handling arrangements.
Everett was born June 20, 1930, in Fairmount/ Conkeytown, the son of Paul Nye and Florence Edith Tracy Walters. He married Olive June Cromwell on Nov. 11, 1948, in Santa Cruz, Calif. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2001.
Survivors include his son, Randy (Cindy) Walters of Covington, Ind.; daughter, Debbie (Doug) Sears of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Sara (Mike) Allen, Jackie (Matt) Hamann, Kim (Jon) Chastain and James Walters; great-grandchildren, Gracie Chastain, Kadence Chastain, John Donelan, Nicholas Donelan, Andrew Donelan, Olive Hamann and Fletcher Hamann; and stepgrandchildren, Lana Turner and George Sears.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, four brothers and three sisters. He was the last remaining sibling of eight.
Everett was a member of Homer United Methodist Church. He owned and operated Uncle Boonie’s Bait Shop in Homer for over 30 years. He was a former member of the volunteer fire department and Boy Scout master for 10 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. Everett enjoyed playing euchre with his friends.
