William Carico

 CHAMPAIGN — William Carico, 86, of Champaign passed away Tuesday (Nov. 29, 2022).

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview, with the Rev. Ken Young officiating. Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. Carico was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Champaign C o u n t y , a son to Herman and Dorothy Slightom Carico. He married Mary Margaret Franklin on April 26, 1958, in Urbana. She preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1964. He then married Pamela Ann Christian (143) on July 10, 1964, in Urbana. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2013.

Surviving are two sons, Kim (Sherry) Carico of Kevil, Ky., and Kevin Carico of Homer; a sister, Diane (Chuck) Hulse of Tolono; five grandchildren, Kody (Tianna) Carico, Lindsay Carico, Jamie Lindsay, Amanda Lindsay and Brian Lindsay; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Lindsay; a brother, Ernest Carico; and a sister, Carol Hintz.

He was first and foremost a family man. He was a multi-business owner and founding father of Illini Siding and Insulation. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a paratrooper. He was the founding father of the Champaign-Urbana Bass Club. He loved bass fishing and was a fishing guide in Florida as well. He enjoyed being with family the upmost.
