FARMER CITY – Kristy L. Shumate, 42, of Farmer City died at 5:04 p.m. Sunday (June 21, 2015) at Presence Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust St., Arcola, with the Rev. Vince Rohn officiating. Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Kristy was born July 28, 1972, in Mattoon, the daughter of Marvin and Nancy Worthington Myers. She married John Shumate in Champaign on Oct. 10, 2008.
She is survived by her husband, John Shumate of Farmer City; three children, Ashley (Mark) Copher of Mansfield, Dustin Humphries of Rantoul and Zach Shumate of Rantoul; mother, Nancy Myers-Crum of St. Joseph; and grandson, Brantley Copher.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Kristy was a graduate of St. Joseph-Ogden High School and Parkland College. She worked as a warranty administrator for Sullivan-Parkhill car dealership in Champaign.
She was a member of the Teal Ladies Group, which is a support group for those diagnosed with the various stages of cervical cancer. She loved taking pictures so she enrolled in photography classes at Parkland. She loved her kids, grandson, and four Yorkies.
