SPRINGFIELD – Michael Gene Hubert, 62, of Springfield, formerly of Homer, died at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday (June 17, 2015) at Heartland Healthcare Center, Paxton.
Private graveside services will be held at G.A.R. Cemetery, Homer. Military rites will be accorded. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hubert was born on May 30, 1953, in Portsmouth, Va., the son of William Gene Hubert and Jo Anne Gass Kinney.
Survivors include his mother of Venice, Fla.; six sons, Michael "Lee" Hubert, Brett Hubert, Brandon Hubert and Adam Hubert, all of Oklahoma, and Joseph Hubert and Dakota Hubert, both of Mansfield; one brother, Jeff Hubert of Fairmount; one sister, Sheila Rorem of Thomasboro; six grandchildren; and a special friend, Connie Wilson of Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Roy Hubert.
Mr. Hubert was an IT manager for the State of Illinois. He had served in the Air Force. He was a Cubs and Illini fan.
