Penfield – Robert "Deano" Pearson, 90, of Penfield passed away at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2013) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. John Lutheran Church, Royal. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Cemetery, Royal, with Pastor Jay Johnson officating. Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.
Deano was born July 21, 1923, at Fithian, the son of Oscar W. and Nina Mae Glover Pearson. He married Bettie Ann Werts. She preceded him in death in 1992.
He is survived by daughters, Karen (Dennis) Mika of Aurora and Debbie (Lonnie) Freeman of Royal; and granddaughters, Brooke (John Ross) Wilsey of Royal and Taylor Freeman of Naperville.
Deano was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He farmed in Champaign County. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Assocation and was a breeder, exhibitor and registered judge. He was inducted into the Illinois Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. Deano was a avid St. Louis Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to watch Brooke and Taylor play softball for St. Joseph Ogden and Parkland.
