Kenneth Suits

PENFIELD – Kenneth E. Suits, 75, of Penfield passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, at 5:18 a.m. Tuesday (April 22, 2014).
He was born July 19, 1938, in Champaign, a son of Henry B. and Emma C. (Busboom) Suits. He married Rosetta Fruhling on June 22, 1958, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville. She survives.
He is also survived by two children, Jeff (Melissa) Suits of Penfield and Kimberly (Mark) Wood of Gifford; a sister, Doris Osterbur of Champaign, and a brother, Virgil Suits of Thomasboro; four grandchildren, Randi (Corey) Rademacher of Fithian, Morgan (fiance, Jeff Blankenship) Wood of Champaign, Evan Suits of Penfield and Taylor Wood of Gifford; and four great-grandchildren, Nolan, Reagan, Quinn and Carson Rademacher, all of Fithian, with the fifth to arrive in June.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Suits; his father- and mother-in-law, Mane and Grace Fruhling; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Osterbur.
Kenny was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville, where he served on church council and was a member of the wonderful Cathedral Choir. He was also an active member of the I&I Tractor Club and Champaign County Farm Bureau and a former member of the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association.
He served as a member of the Penfield Grade School Board and was a leader for 20 years for the Penfield-Gifford Ag 4-H Club. He also was an EI baseball player and an avid softball player. He was a lifelong farmer in the Penfield, Gifford and Flatville areas.
Kenny was a loving husband, father and grandfather and truly enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most, always making sure to attend their many activities.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Friday morning at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The Rev. James Lehmann will officiate. Burial will follow at Beckman Cemetery, Thomasboro. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 Thursday evening at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Flatville, or an organization of the donor's choice.
