ST. JOSEPH – Delmar Dale Schlueter, 70, of St. Joseph went to be with the Lord early Monday morning (June 9, 2014). He was at home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. James Lehmann will officiate. Burial will follow in Kopmann Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. There will be a prayer service at 3 p.m.
Delmar was born Dec. 4, 1943, at Champaign, a son of Harm and Anna (Frieden) Schlueter.
He is survived by a son, LeRoy (Tana) Kopmann of Dwight; a daughter, Bonita Kopmann of St. Joseph; a brother, Melvin (Mary Ann) Schlueter of St. Joseph; a sister, Erna Amerman of Royal; four grandchildren, Levi Kopmann, Kallie Kopmann, Karson Kopmann and Tyre Stephens; and one great-granddaughter, Braylee Horn. Also surviving is his German Shepherd, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Anita Kopmann.
Delmar farmed in the St. Joseph area all his life. He built homes with his brother for years, retiring in 1995.
He loved NASCAR and spending time with his grandchildren, nephews and nieces (and the dog).
Delmar was a lifetime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He served in the National Guard. He was a member of the Royal American Legion.
Memorials may be made to Kopmann Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul, is handling the arrangements.
