Gladys E. McKinney

CHAMPAIGN – Gladys E. McKinney of Champaign passed away at 8:42 a.m. Thursday (March 24, 2016) at her son's house, where she was staying under hospice care.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy. The Rev. Marsh Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Mayview.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born on Nov. 25, 1914, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Edward and Jenne Reese Butzow. Gladys married David H. McKinney Sr. on July 4, 1931, in Kentucky.
Gladys is survived by her two sons, David H. McKinney Jr. of Champaign and Jerry A. McKinney of Bonita Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Gladys enjoyed being with her many friends and family, and talking about the good times in the past and present. She enjoyed listening to big band and swing music and old country western music. She loved watching her shows every day such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy."
Gladys was loved by many and had endless love to give. She played an incredibly important role in countless people's lives, and we are all much better people thanks to her.
Mom, we all will miss you very much.
