Cecil Busboom

URBANA – Cecil Busboom, 79, of Urbana, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away at 9:57 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 29, 2017) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, with Pastor Seth Jersild officiating.
Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Cecil was born on Nov. 9, 1938, at Champaign, the son of Hie and Margaret Schmidt Busboom. He married Bonnie Towner on Aug. 29, 1959, in Urbana. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Michael Busboom of Atlanta, Ga., Marc Busboom of Elgin and Marcia (Brad) Robbins of St. Joseph; three grandchildren, Ashley Gallo, Bryant Robbins and Hailee Robbins; three great-grandchildren, Ava, Will and Carson Gallo; and two brothers, Dale (Loretta) Busboom of St. Joseph and Dean (Sally) Busboom of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cecil farmed in the area, and also worked at the Anderson Elevator in Champaign. Cecil developed Whiltshire subdivision in St. Joseph. He and his wife also had a glass business on Marco Island, Fla.
Cecil was a charter member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph. He also served on the St. Joseph school board.
He enjoyed traveling and most of all spending time with his family.
