Mildred Alene Maddock

MAHOMET – Mildred Alene Maddock Landreth, 91, of Mahomet, formerly of St. Joseph and Decatur, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday (March 20, 2018) in Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, at Freese Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview.
Alene was born June 11, 1926, in St. Joseph, the daughter of Earl Chester and Arvilla Wintress Leigh Maddock.
Survivors include sister, Delores Behrens of Chesterfield, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Loren Maddock; infant sister, Patricia Ann Maddock; brothers, Orville Leigh Maddock and Robert Earl Maddock; and sister, Eleanor Belle Maddock Craig.
Alene attended Beverlin grade school in Stanton Township and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944. She retired from the University of Illinois.
She was an active volunteer at Lincoln State School in the 1960s and 1970s and after moving to Mahomet, she volunteered at Swann Special Care Center, Champaign.
Alene had a strong interest in her family history and in 1996, put together a book "Ancestors" with numerous photos and stories of the family over the generations.
Memorials may be made to Swann Special Care or Developmental Service Center.
