John married Diane (Cullinan) on June 11, 1977, in Chicago. They were married 46 years. They have two children together, Scott Butler and Sindy (Jason) Henry. John was blessed with five grandchildren, Savana Butler, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Brayden and Tyler Henry.

John grew up in Chicago. He often told stories about his childhood. His fondest memory was working at his dad's gas station with his family. He loved working with his dad, uncle and his brothers.

John was a jack of all trades. He did about everything a person could do in a lifetime. No matter what his job was, he always found joy in what he was doing.

After John retired, you would find him fiddling around in his garage. He enjoyed woodworking and made several napkin holders for his family.  John could fix just about anything. His grandkids knew if something was broke that Papa could fix it.

John loved his family dearly. He would do anything for anyone. John loved watching movies with his wife, Diane. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports. He was so proud of all of his grandkids.

John was an incredibly loving, easy-going and caring man.  He was goofy and was always making funny faces. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.
