HOMER - Leona Jeanette Brock, 95, of Homer went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.
Per her wishes, there will be private, family-only graveside services at Danville National Cemetery, Danville, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Warren.
Jeanette was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Terre Haute, Ind., to William and Leona (Reynolds) Kearney Sr. She attended Terre Haute Grade Schools and Danville High School, graduating in 1944.
Jeanette worked at General Electric, Connor's Restaurant and Cap & Gown over the years. She was a devoted, longtime member of Homer Congregational Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and Bible Study groups.
Jeanette married Lawrence "Pete" Ellis in October 1950; he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1965. She later wed Warren Brock on Nov. 11, 1966, in Ludlow, and the two shared 31 years together before his passing in January 1997.
She leaves behind her daughter, Judy Young; two grandchildren, Robert and Toni Young; many nieces and nephews, including Jackie and Tim Prunkard, who took care of her these past several years; and her close friends, Mary and Jamie Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Kearney Jr., Raymond Kearney and Gerald "Sonny" Kearney; and a grandson.
