Harry Querry

Harry was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Paris, Ill., a son of Revell E. Querry and Mary Van Pelt Querry. He married Marilyn R. Lane on June 29, 1947, in Decker, Ind. She survives in Urbana.
Also surviving are three daughters, Julie (Sam) Bellante, Linda Querry and Janet (Walter) Wolfe. Others survivors include three grandchildren, Jennifer Houston, Kyle (Alyssa) Wolfe and Erin (Brad) Atkinson.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen (Robert) Williamson of Madison, Wis., and his grandson, Chance W. Houston.
Harry served in the Army in the 20th Armored Division Tank Corps as a gunner from 1943 to 1946 during World War II, spending time in Central Europe.
In October 2012, he was honored to be a participant in the Honor Flight program and visit the memorials for all veterans of our country.
After the war, Harry attended college at Indiana State and Evansville College. He then owned and operated retail furniture stores in Lawrenceville and Robinson for 15 years.
Later he worked as an accountant and administrator of Lawrenceville Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville. He came to Burnham City Hospital, Champaign, in 1969 as assistant administrator and remained there until retirement in 1985.
His hobbies included gardening and he raised quarter horses for several years. In retirement, Harry enjoyed collecting and refinishing antiques.
Harry was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 28-IL and the University of Illinois Alumni Association. He was a past member of the American Academy of Medical Administrators, American Association of Hospital Accountants and International Accountants Society.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the First Presbyterian Church, 602 W. Green St., Urbana, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Family will hold visitation from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the church library. Following, military honors will be enacted at the Mount Hope Chapel Mausoleum, Champaign, at noon. The Rev. Dr. Katherine L. Kussmaul will be officiating.
Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in Harry's honor or to the donor's choice.
