Lenore Shaffer

ST. JOSEPH – Lenore Anne Shaffer, 51, of St. Joseph passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2013) at home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, with the Rev. Tom Anders officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Lenore was born Nov. 18, 1961, at Champaign, the daughter of Frank and Luella Hall Carter.
She is survived by her children, LeAnne (Tyler) Uden of Monticello and Joseph Shaffer of Urbana; her father, Frank Carter of St. Joseph; one brother, Curtis (Angela) Carter of St. Joseph; one sister, Judith (Rand) Broutin of Decatur; grandchildren, Carson and Cutler Uden; niece, Stephanie Carter; and nephew, Taylor Broutin.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Lenore worked through DSC. She was a member of the Church of Christ in St. Joseph.
Lenore overcame the difficulties left from a stroke at the age of 20 to show others that life can still be enjoyed and you can be grateful for everything God provides.
She enjoyed sitting in the sun, people watching, and laughing at silly things.
She was a joyful spirit, someone who always raised others' spirits. She was always in a happy mood. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her biggest joy was her grandkids.
She had a happy demeanor, was patient, generous with her time and affection. She loved everyone and always took an interest in the people she met.
Lenore's smile and laugh will be missed every time someone pulls into the driveway or comes into the house.
She will be missed dearly, but her memory will be treasured forever.
