James Thomas Coyne

HOMER – James Thomas Coyne, 85, of Homer passed away at 11:11 p.m. Friday (Dec. 11, 2015) at his home.
There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. Pastor Tony Smith will officiate. There is no visitation.
Mr. Coyne was born on April 28, 1930, in Covington, Ky., a son of Michael and Ollie Mae Coyne. He married Bernadine Coleman on March 31, 1950. She passed away on May 2, 2014.
Survivors include 10 children, Vicki (Doug) McCafferty of Edgewood, Ky., Lisa (Butch) Baker of Graham, N.C., Patty Price of Homer, Richard (Fran) Coyne of Champaign, Roger (Laura) Coyne of Bloomington, Penny (Darrel) Johnson of Urbana, Becky (Jay) Meyer of McLean, Edward (Melissa) Coyne of Mahomet, Billy (Kim) Coyne of St. Joseph and James Thomas Coyne II of Homer. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Coyne served in the Army from 1949-1952 during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Vesuvius in Champaign as a consultant. He retired in 1995 but continued to consult for them until May 2015.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to give special thanks to Carle Hospice for their wonderful care.
