Lois Quednau

ST. JOSEPH – Lois L. Quednau, 95, of St. Joseph died at home at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015.
Mrs. Quednau was born on Jan. 28, 1920, in Chicago, the daughter of Thomas William and Mabel Leach Luebker. She married Walter Carl Quednau on June 23, 1945, in Maywood. They lived most of their lives and raised their family in Berkeley, Ill. They moved to St. Joseph in 2003 to be near family. Walter died on March 25, 2013.
Memorial services have not yet been finalized, but will occur in the Chicago area after the holidays. Lois and Walter will be buried together in Mount Emblem Cemetery with both of their parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Hixson of Urbana; two sons, Walter Carl (Melissa) Quednau of Bloomingdale and Robert Allen (Brenda Zoller) Quednau of St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Chuck.
Mrs. Quednau attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph.
She loved to bowl and was on a bowling team all her life until unable to throw the ball. She learned to golf when Walter retired and enthusiastically played that game with him as well as with a women's group.
She loved her family. The brothers and sisters, the nieces and nephews, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were all thought of often and lovingly. And she loved the excitement, color, lights, preparation and joy of Christmas.
