ROYAL – Richard A. Post 80, of Royal passed away at 1:12 a.m. Friday (April 6, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Royal, with Pastor Jay Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.
Richard was born Aug. 26, 1937, at Danville. The son of Albert and Minnie Carl Post. He married Linda Miles on Nov. 23, 1985. She survives.
He is also survived by his daughter Michele (Leonard) Mahurin of Indianapolis; step-children, Richard Raup of Dwight, Kelly (Lee) Archambault of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Matthew and Brook Mahurin, Jamie, Matt and Mari Archambault; one great-granddaughter, Mckenna; one brother, Stanley (Dottie) Post of Spring Hill, Fla.; one sister, Charlene (Steve) McKinney of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Royal American Legion Post 996. He aslso served as a volunteer Fireman in Royal. He was a former Royal Board member. He was part owner of Meier-Duitsman Oil Company in Royal for 40 years, retiring in 2001.
Richard was a diehard Cubs fan. He enjoyed camping and, most of all, his coffee and social hour with his buddies.
