ST. JOSEPH — Sue Goyne, 77, of St. Joseph passed away at 8:45 a.m. Monday (Jan. 14, 2019) at her home.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., St. Joseph, is in charge of arrangements.
Sue was born March 9, 1941, in Urbana, a daughter of William and Cora Deck Marshall. She married Ernest Goyne on Jan. 11, 1958, in Urbana. He survives.
She is also survived by her children, Larry (Judy) Goyne, Beverly (Jim) Barden and Don (Mellisa) Goyne; and grandchildren, Monica Goyne, DanielGoyne, Mathew Goyne, Nick Goyne, Megan Goyne, Jim Barden and Mindy Barden.
She also had 17 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Bill Marshall, Jim Marshall, Barb Johnson, Nancy Davidson and Pat Butler, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and two children, Larry and Ronald Goyne.
Sue and Ernie moved from Urbana to St. Joseph in 1966, where they built a home and raised their children.
Sue worked for 18 years at Solo Cup, where she made many friends. Sue loved her dachshunds, Willy, Rusty, Sophia and Isabella. She loved to work in the yard with her flowers. She also had a Koi pond and spoiled her Koi, they always knew when she was coming down to feed them.
She will be remembered not only for her quick wit but also her willingness to help others, and the love she had for her family.
