Leonard E. Wilson

URBANA — Leonard E. Wilson, 92, of Urbana passed away at 7:10 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 17, 2018) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Patterson Cemetery, St. Joseph. Pastor Ricky Spindler will officiate.
Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Urbana, to parents Fred and Anna (Brazelton) Wilson.
He married Elizabeth L. Harton on June 30, 1952, in Angola, Ind. She preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2000.
Survivors include sons, Leonard E. Wilson Jr. (Denise) of Philo, Earl Scott Wilson (Kathy) of Oakwood and Chris Wilson (Julie) of Kentucky; brother, Donald L. Wilson of Jayton, Texas; three grandchildren, Stefanie Anderson (Nick), Christopher Wilson (Carrie) and Ryan Wilson (Alisha); four stepgrandchildren, Steven Carder (Meredith), Stephanie Dunn (Joe), Stacy Norton (Jason) and Katiesha Kress (Tim);three greatgrandchildren, Elizabeth Anderson, Maxwell Wilson and CarsonWilson; and 10 step-greatgrandchildren,
Jared Dunn, Hunter Dunn, Hannah Dunn, Caitlin Dunn, Zachary Norton (Heather), McKayla Norton, Ella Carder, Ava Carder, Liza Carder and Elias Kress.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; daughter, Caprice L. Wilson; and a grandson, Jeremiah Wilson.
After graduating high school, Leonard honorably served his country by serving in the Army during World War II, then worked as a mechanic and a union plumber.
He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of Urbana-Champaign, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 149 and Urbana V.F.W. Post 630.
His favorite pastimes were gardening, traveling and taking walks.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society.
